DigitalBank Intelligence's analysis: A monthly intelligence summary of significant cryptocurrency thefts, exploits, and hacks — with tracing analysis, attack vectors, and recovery outlook for each incident.
About This Series
Each month, DigitalBank Intelligence publishes an intelligence summary of significant cryptocurrency thefts, exploits, and hacks. This series is not exhaustive — it covers incidents that are significant either in scale, in methodology, or in what they reveal about the evolving threat landscape. For each incident, we provide the facts as publicly known, the attack vector, the on-chain tracing outlook, and a recovery feasibility assessment. This is intelligence, not speculation.
How to Use This Brief
If you were affected by any incident in this brief, preserve all relevant evidence — transaction records, communications, platform access — and seek a professional assessment. If you are a compliance, security, or legal professional, this brief is intended to support your awareness of current attack patterns. The recovery outlook for each incident is an assessment based on the publicly known facts; specific cases may differ.
The Value of Monthly Tracking
Tracking hacks monthly reveals patterns that individual incident analysis misses: which attack vectors are increasing, which chains are being targeted, how laundering techniques are evolving, and where funds are typically cashed out. Over time, this pattern data improves both prevention and recovery — understanding how stolen funds move helps trace them when a new incident occurs. This is why we publish this series: the website becomes an information source, not just an advertisement.
Recovery Outlook: A Realistic Framework
For each incident, we assess recovery outlook using a consistent framework: (1) Traceability — can the on-chain trail be followed to a cash-out point? (2) Identification — can the holder be identified through exchange KYC or HUMINT? (3) Jurisdiction — is there a jurisdiction where lawful action is possible? (4) Timing — how quickly were funds moved and dissipated? An incident may be highly traceable but have low recovery outlook if funds were quickly moved through non-cooperative channels. This framework is why we never guarantee recovery — the facts of each case determine what is possible.
Staying Informed
The threat landscape evolves continuously. New attack vectors, new laundering techniques, and new regulatory developments affect both prevention and recovery. We publish this monthly brief, real-time alerts on X and LinkedIn, and in-depth analysis of specific scam types in our Intelligence Center.
