Blockchain Forensics
Blockchain forensics is the investigative analysis of on-chain transaction data to trace funds, identify wallet controllers, and preserve evidence. We combine specialized forensic tools with human intelligence to reach the individuals behind the addresses.
What is blockchain forensics?
Blockchain forensics applies investigative techniques to public ledger data: transaction graph analysis, wallet clustering, entity attribution, and behavioral profiling. The goal is to transform on-chain activity into actionable, verifiable evidence linking addresses to real-world individuals.
How we help
- 01Transaction graph reconstruction across blockchains
- 02Wallet clustering and entity attribution
- 03Mixer, tumbler, and chain-hop analysis
- 04Exchange and off-ramp identification
- 05Evidence preservation for legal proceedings
What can realistically be done
Blockchain forensics can reconstruct the complete movement of funds across a blockchain, identify clusters of wallets controlled by the same entity, attribute wallets to known services (exchanges, mixers, payment processors), and flag behavioral patterns indicative of money laundering or concealment. Forensics alone identifies addresses and patterns — linking them to a named individual typically requires HUMINT or lawful disclosure from a regulated service. Forensics cannot de-anonymize funds that passed through certain privacy protocols, but it can establish the limits of what is traceable, which is itself valuable for case strategy.
Evidence required
The stronger the evidence package, the more precise the investigation. Gather what you can before contacting us.
- 01The wallet address or addresses of interest
- 02The blockchain (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) involved
- 03Relevant transaction hashes or approximate dates
- 04The context: theft, fraud, dispute, or due diligence
- 05Any known connected addresses or services
- 06The objective: tracing, attribution, evidence package, or due diligence
Typical obstacles
Every case faces friction. Understanding the obstacles upfront sets realistic expectations for what recovery can achieve.
- —Mixers and tumblers that fragment transaction graphs
- —Cross-chain bridges that break single-ledger analysis
- —Privacy coins and shielded transactions
- —Decentralized exchange swaps with no KYC
- —Wallets controlled by multiple signers (multi-sig) obscuring control
- —Volume of transactions making manual analysis impractical
Relevant jurisdictions
Blockchain forensics is technology-driven and not jurisdiction-bound, but the legal use of forensic findings depends on jurisdiction. We produce evidence packages suitable for courts in the US, UK, EU, and common-law jurisdictions, and coordinate with local counsel elsewhere to meet evidentiary standards. Findings are verified for compliance with applicable law in each jurisdiction where they will be used.
HUMINT
Human intelligence operations to obtain evidence that paper trails and on-chain data alone cannot reveal.
OSINT & Forensics
Open-source intelligence and blockchain forensics to trace funds and map infrastructure.
Lawful Operations
All operations conducted within applicable local laws, coordinated with top-tier law firms in each jurisdiction.
How the engagement works
- 01
Encrypted Intake
Contact us via Telegram or Signal. No case details over email. We assess the basic facts of your situation.
- 02
Case Assessment
We evaluate feasibility — tracing potential, jurisdictions involved, and likelihood of identifying beneficiaries. No charge for this assessment.
- 03
Written Engagement
If we proceed, a written agreement outlines scope, jurisdiction, applicable law, and the success-based fee structure.
- 04
Intelligence Operations
We conduct tracing and HUMINT operations within applicable local laws, coordinated with local counsel where required.
- 05
Reporting & Recovery
Findings delivered with verifiable evidence. Fee is due only on actual recovery — 30% of funds recovered.
Frequently asked questions
What is blockchain forensics used for?
Tracing stolen or concealed cryptocurrency, identifying wallet controllers, building evidence for litigation, and supporting law enforcement investigations with verifiable on-chain analysis.
Can blockchain forensics identify who owns a wallet?
On-chain data reveals patterns and links between addresses. Linking a wallet to a real-world identity typically requires combining forensics with human intelligence — which is our core methodology.
Is blockchain forensics admissible as evidence?
We preserve forensic findings in a format suitable for legal proceedings. Admissibility depends on jurisdiction; we work with law firms to ensure findings meet local evidentiary standards.
We offer a confidential case assessment — not a guaranteed recovery promise. Regulators including the FCA and FTC warn consumers about services that guarantee recovery, demand unexplained upfront fees, or impersonate authorities. We charge only on actual recovery.
